country, any means of earning a living goes.
The ideas are numerous but not all of them
pay. Some bright sparks have struck it rich:

>> To escape from
the economic crisis that has hit the country
since 1997, a Thai businessman had an original
idea - he opened a cockroach farm! Today he
earns around 20,000 Baht per month (approx.
516 Euros) breeding cockroaches in two farms
near Bangkok and selling them to the local
fishermen.
Each insect is sold for 4 Baht (10 Euro cents)
"They're a bit more expensive than home-made
bait, but the fish like them", states
the 33 year old businessman, Somkiat Phanmanee.
Being a passionate fisherman himself, he had
this idea to raise cockroaches some years
ago after returning from studying management
in India. Not finding any work in Thailand,
he set about finding information on cockroaches,
using mainly the Internet and obtained specimens
for reproduction.
Today, Somkiat's two farms produce 3,000 cockroaches
each week. Lucrative but rather unappetizing
for those unused to this kind of practice.
