trop fameux
Damnoen Saduak
Bien que de plus en plus rares dans la capitale,
les marchés flottants sont toujours
d'actualité dans le pays. Ces rencontres
commerciales sur les canaux ont su conserver
des traditions séculaires qui séduisent
les touristes -parfois trop nombreux pour
un espace restreint. Damnoen Saduak, souvent
paralysé par un afflux de visiteurs,
perd parfois de son authenticité.

Les grandes surfaces du royaume n'ont rien
à envier à leurs cousines occidentales.
Aussi bien faits, aussi bien achalandés,
les hypers et les supermarchés de Bangkok
sont agréables et dynamisés.
Avec en plus la couleur locale, l'accueil
et le service thaï que l'on connaît.

When it comes to delicate subjects, Thailand
has to deal with more than its fair share.
Along with drugs and prostitution there's
also a flourishing counterfeit market. The
sale of fake luxury goods is on view all over
Bangkok and is often the sole means of income
for some of the street vendors.

nights in Patpong
Patpong, the famous red light street in Bangkok,
is the home of the infernal night market that
sets up every evening. The persistent vendors,
cheeky touts, the noise of the gogo bars,
all contribute to the character of the steamy
nights in this hot quarter of the city.

charms of Taling Chan
Floating markets are becoming rare in Bangkok
and those pertaining to this genre do not
always correspond to the expectations of their
visitors. The Taling Chan floating market
manages however, to cultivate the tradition
in its authenticity and conviviality.

Chatu Chak Market,
the reference
Since 1982 Chatu Chak market has been the
most popular of markets in Bangkok. This famous
weekend shopping haven is the biggest, best
stocked and probably the most frequented of
markets and above all the cheapest in the
city.

 Battery
cockroaches
Since the crisis hit the country, any means
of earning a living goes. The ideas are numerous
but not all of them pay. Some bright sparks
have struck it rich: breeding cockroaches!
