>> Thais can now get
an idea of what life is like behind prison
bars thanks to a new website created by the
prisoners themselves and put on the internet
by the prison authorities (www.hosdoc.com).
The site offers a range of advice like how
to get to sleep in a cell, how to make one's
sentence as short as possible or how to be
prepared for release. It also allows the prisoners
and their families to obtain information on
the legal system.
"We want people to understand that it's
not as bad as they think but not so comfortable
that you'd actually want to spend time there"
explains John Lertwitworapong, director of
Bangkok's prison hospital where the site is
updated by the hospitalised prisoners. Source:
