.Climate - Seasons |

|
| Even the Farangs remain
unfazed by the thermometers of Bangkok regularly
showing 32 degrees. Nonetheless it's winter
and the Thais go out in their warm clothes.
The westerners enjoy the mildness. |

>> It's very pleasant
here. The word 'hot' is hardly used by the
acclimatised Farangs (what the Thais call
westerners) except on rare occasions. Like
the Thais, as soon as the weather cools down
(25 degrees) the Farangs start to shiver.
The climate may be ideal during this season
but the summers can be 'deadly' in Bangkok
(40 degrees). The moral of the story is to
make the most of the mild temperatures in
the winter.
The Thais immediately dress up in warm clothes.
The guys happily put on their jackets and
thick trousers and many women and girls, parade
elegantly in their tights, long boots and
polo necks - perhaps in the name of fashion.
And when the thermometer drops a little more,
some get out their anoraks and mittens...
For them it's just pleasant at 30 degrees
but nothing more. For those not used to this
climate, it's wonderful. When you arrive in
the country, the heat can seem stifling, but
you quickly adjust. There are the occasional
moments in the evening when you get a cool
breeze (24 degrees)! (/LA) |
