| With the rhythm of music
of the Songkran Festival (Thai New Year -
the festival of water) around April 13, Thais
celebrate the arrival of summer and get ready
for the hot season. |

>> Exit winter, the
Thai calendar has forgotten spring and marks
the arrival of summer from the month of March.
There's no transition, no warning of the overwhelming
effect on us poor unsuspecting mortals.
Even the usual indicator, the start of the
sales, seems to lose its direction. Barely
out of the winter reductions and we're already
into the summer sales. Already started in
March, summer is well and truly under way
by the 13 April national holiday with the
harsh rays of sun and stifling air. This is
the time of year that temperatures reach their
highest - 40/42 degrees in Bangkok!
For the Thais it doesn't change much. They
wear slightly lighter clothing (if that's
at all possible) and are seen in the streets,
more often that not, holding...umbrellas!
Not to protect themselves from the downpours
that will follow later during the rainy season,
(July, August and September) but to protect
them from the burning sun. The air-conditioning,
used throughout the year, is a serious ally.
