Daily
prayers
The Thais give a lot of time to their religion,
which is principally Buddhism. Not only do
they spend a lot of time at weekends in the
temples, they always manage to find a moment
in the week to meditate in a place of worship.

When
the mask
is not enough...
Bangkok is alive, it breathes. It breathes
badly, but it breathes! In partial apnoea,
how long will the City of Angels hold out
against the suffocating, toxic smog? People
take small measures to protect themselves,
in anticipation of a brighter future.

Choked
by its traffic
Getting around in Bangkok can be a real Chinese
puzzle, especially during rush hour. Despite
considerable efforts by the authorities to
reorganize public transport, the city remains
stuck in its daily imbroglio.

A
gastronomic know how
Beyond their eternal smile, Thais have another
quality. Like other Asian societies, the people
of Siam have a natural ability to produce
choice cuisine.
|
Pedestrians
- watch out !
In Bangkok the pedestrian is NOT king! He
doesn't have total priority as in some European
countries. On the contrary, pavement users
would do well to remain vigilant at all times
as motorists are barely aware of their existence.

Mettez-vous
au vert !
Nous apprécions les feuilles de menthe,
de basilic, de sauge, le persil, la coriandre.
Mais au marché existe aussi une grande
variété de feuilles vertes dont
nous ne connaissons ni la saveur ni les propriétés.

The
zero risk factor
Thai lives dangerously. Not for pleasure or
because they like taking risks but through
ignorance of the dangers around them. Everyday
they take risks and fatal accidents are not
uncommon, but, protected by their Good Spirits,
they carry on in their carefree manner - 'mai
pen rai!'.
|
Here
comes summer !!
With the rhythm of music of the Songkran Festival
(Thai New Year - the festival of water) around
April 13, Thais celebrate the arrival of summer
and get ready for the hot season.
|
Bangkok
waterways
To avoid the stress and hubbub of the capital's
intense traffic, some choose the river taxis
on the khlongs (canals). The limited network
satisfies many followers of this rapid means
of transport.
|
Pleasant
winters in Bangkok
Even the Farangs remain unfazed by the thermometers
of Bangkok regularly showing 32 degrees. Nonetheless
it's winter and the Thais go out in their
warm clothes. The westerners enjoy the mildness.

Amulettes,
tatouages
et mandalas...
Comme dans beaucoup d’autres pays et
dans les différentes religions, le
bouddhisme thaï s’accommode fort
bien d’amulettes, de fétiches,
de grigris et autres talismans qui ont une
place importante dans la vie quotidienne.

Bangkok
sous la pluie
Les pluies tropicales de la mousson arrosent
généreusement Bangkok et la
Thaïlande dès le début
du mois de juillet. Intenses mais courtes,
les trombes ne créent que rarement
de gros troubles dans la capitale, quelques
fois inondée.
