so hard ? |

| Since the crisis hit the
country in 1997 the job market has not been
stable. Thais that have work, however tough
it is, hang on to it and work hard. It's not
uncommon either to see construction workers
on site at weekends. How do they manage to
work so hard? |
| Vi B.: Maybe they take
ecstasy... it is possible you know! No I'm
joking (she laughs). They're so badly paid,
they earn a bit extra if they do overtime.
Their hours are normally 7am to 5pm and anything
after that is overtime - if they work a Saturday
or Sunday they get double time. Some even
work slower in the week so that they have
to work at the weekend to earn more money...
