Who's never dreamed of a miracle cure, an old wives' remedy, that can heal all ailments, body mind and soul? If westerners dream of it, Asians have already invented it not so long ago and it's still in use today. It's 'tiger balm'!

Tiger balm exists in 3 forms: White tiger balm (a gel) aids breathing and eases pains such as headaches. Red tiger balm (also a gel) is very popular, especially with sportsmen and women who use it to massage tired muscles and relieve tendons and joints. Tiger liniment (an oil) has excellent relaxing properties and is used in all types of massage.

>> No magic, no witchcraft, tiger balm is merely a pharmaceutical compound of medicinal plants that Asians use daily for all their little aches and pains. This beneficial product which is well known in Thailand no longer needs to prove itself and is an essential item in anyone's overnight bag.

This precious concoction was originally developed by ancient healers to ease the ailments of the Chinese Emperors, but was rediscovered by a Burmese herbalist from Aw Chu (Rangoon). Today, tiger balm is known all over the world and widely used in Asia. This versatile balm is still made up of camphor, menthol, cajeput oil and cloves.

Sore joints and muscles, stiff necks, headaches, breathing problems and all the other little ailments that trouble our lives find relief with this gel. The effect of this pain reliever is partly due to some of its components, which produce a sensation of heat (from the camphor) and coolness (from the menthol) when applied to the body. It immediately alleviates the intensity of the pain and treats the cause of the problem long term.

Even if tiger balm is known universally, it can't always be sold in its Asian form in some countries where they wish to limit the dosage of certain of its components by law. (/LA)
